IGNOU Regional Centre Nagpur: In the past, the entire state of Maharashtra had a single IGNOU Regional Centre located in Pune. However, in response to the growing demands of the people in Vidarbha for a nearby Regional Centre, and to provide educational services to learners in that area, the Board of Management of IGNOU approved the establishment of a new Regional Centre in Nagpur during its 89th meeting on February 26, 2007.

The Nagpur Regional Centre began its operations on April 1, 2009, utilizing the facilities of a local Study Centre. The official inauguration of the Nagpur Regional Centre took place on September 10, 2009, at its current location. This Regional Centre has authority over 14 districts in Maharashtra, namely Akola, Amravati, Bhandara, Buldhana, Chandrapur, Gadchiroli, Gondia, Hingoli, Nagpur, Nanded, Parbhani, Wardha, Washim, and Yavatmal.
IGNOU is a central university under the Government of India, with jurisdiction across the entire country and even a few centers overseas. It offers a variety of distance learning programs, enabling individuals who desire to gain knowledge, skills, or qualifications in their chosen field to enroll in the university.
To facilitate effective learning experiences, IGNOU provides its learners with comprehensive study materials in a self-learning format. It also employs various media tools such as face-to-face counseling, audio-video sessions, interactive radio and TV sessions, online resources, mandatory lab sessions, workshops, projects, and real-life activities for skill development.
